Sgt. 1st Class Eric Mainu is a contracting officer assigned to the 412th Contracting Support Brigade's 638th Senior Contingency Contracting Team at Fort Riley, Kan.

Mainu is currently deployed in support of the Kandahar Regional Contracting Office in Afghanistan and was selected as the Central Command-Joint Theater Support Contracting Command Senior Enlisted Outstanding Performer for October.

Describe your current position:

I am the senior noncommissioned officer for the Kandahar Regional Contracting Office where I execute duties as a contracting officer.

Describe your passion for the job:

I'm totally mission-focused in order to support the fight.

Where do you call home? Your family?

I was born in Ghana, West Africa, and have just recently completed my doctoral degree from North Central University, Ariz. I am married and have six children, two of which are currently serving in the U.S. Army.

How does your job support the Soldier?

I provide any and all forms of contracted support to include delivery of necessary supplies such as fuel, food and water. I also support the Soldiers by providing other basic services required for vehicle maintenance.

What would you like others to know about you?

I am very proud to have served this country and to have been recognized for my dedication to the mission.
