YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic Korea - A job fair for military spouses and family members is scheduled for May 30 at the Community Services Building.

Job seekers will be able to talk to representatives from 25 companies and government organizations looking for qualified applicants.

"This is a great opportunity for people to get to know the companies in the community and look for job opportunities," said Mercedes Jamieson, Employment Readiness Program manager at U.S. Army Garrison-Yongsan Army Community Service.

Jamieson said potential applicants should take copies of their resumes, "dress for success," and be prepared for a 30-minute interview.

"This is an opportunity to network and contact many businesses on the peninsula for great job opportunities," Jamieson added.

The majority of the companies attending are private companies who perform contract services for the U.S. government. However, representatives from USAG-Yongsan Child and Youth Services, Army and Air Force Exchange Service and the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center will be available to discuss government employment opportunities.

"Being a military spouse myself, I know it's tough to move and start over," Jamieson said. "Sometimes you have to take whatever is available. This is one of the reasons we want to have a job fair, to come and see what's available."

Through the ACS employment readiness program, Jamieson offers free workshops such as interviewing tips, resume and cover letter writing, dressing for success, career counseling, and other employment assistance. "Anything to benefit and provide information for military spouses and other family members to be successful," she said.
