FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- A "Hiring Our Heroes" job fair will be hosted on Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Crown Center for all military veterans, Active Duty, Guard and Reserve servicemembers, as well as eligible military spouses.

The hiring event, sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Labor Veterans' Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the North Carolina Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the North Carolina Chamber, the Give an Hour/The Community Blueprint Network, the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, The American Legion, NBC News and other local partners will have at least 60 employers on site this year for servicemembers.

"We want to be able to provide an opportunity for these veterans to have a fair chance at a job," said Brandon Plotnick, Spokesperson for Fayetteville Regional Chamber of Commerce. "These types of job fairs have employers from all different career paths. The employers there want to hire those with prior military experience."

"Since Mar. 2011, nationwide "Hiring Our Heroes" has created 400 job fairs," said Ernie Lombardi, Southeast Regional Associate of U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "Our mission is to have 500,000 military veterans hired nationwide by Jan. 1, 2014."

Lombardi, a former marine who is determined about helping servicemembers find jobs, says the primary purpose of the job fair is to put veterans in front of employers.

"The whole campaign of "Hiring Our Heroes" is to provide opportunities for veterans to meet with employers one on one, to talk about their skill sets, job capabilities and desire to move forward in their civilian life," said Lombardi.

"Veterans bring a lot of skill sets to the table," he added, "they bring a tremendous amount of teamwork, discipline and willingness to accomplish a mission."

Admission to attend this event is free, but those who seek to attend must first register online. Registration for employers and job seekers can be found at HOH.Greatjob.net for guaranteed admission.
