SAN ANTONIO - "My Army Life in Photos," a new contest by the U.S. Army Installation Management Command's Family and MWR Programs, is now accepting submissions.

Beginning Nov. 1, eligible MWR patrons can upload photos capturing their Army experience to the entry application on Facebook.com/FamilyMWR. All eligible submissions will be entered into a random drawing for a grand prize package including a digital camera set and a $1,000 gift card provided by contest-sponsor Shutterfly. Ten additional contestants could win one of five $100 gift cards or one of five $50 gift cards.

"We're really eager to see peoples' different takes on their Army life," said Carrie Poore, senior marketing coordinator at IMCOM.

According to Poore, the promotion will be simple for participants to enter and browse submissions.

"It's an application right on our Family and MWR Facebook page, which is key because we wanted people to be able to share, comment, [and] enjoy looking at other photos," said Poore. "We wanted it to be very social in nature so social networking was the perfect place for this promotion."

To encourage that sharing, said Poore, contestants can boost their chances of winning if their friends "like" and enter the contest as well.

Throughout the contest, entry themes will change to include Strong Families, HOOAH Homecomings, Vacation Fun, Patriotic Pets and MWR Moments.

Regardless of skill level, Poore encourages all to enter because My Army Life in Photos differs from the Army Digital Photography Contest, another MWR competition currently accepting applications.

"This isn't a talent contest," said Poore. "Although we are looking for great, quality photos [in this promotion], that isn't key. We really just want to see the variety of photos. We want to celebrate the moments that make up Army life."

My Army Life in Photos will accept photo submissions until December 15.
