ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - While the opening of the new U.S. Army Aberdeen Proving Ground Museum remains in the future its website is a reality today. Located at http://www.apg.army.mil/apgmuseum/, the site went up Oct. 15, just one month after it debuted on Facebook Sept. 7 at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/US-Army-Aberdeen-Proving-Ground-Museum/440263612678615?fref=ts.
Acting museum director Ed Heasley said visitors to the site can read about the mission of the newly organized museum capturing the historical past of the installation's new and old tenants. While currently linked through the APG official home page, future plans include a site managed by the Aberdeen Military Museum Foundation for philanthropic support.
"Fans and supporters can contact me through the website for information about how the museum exhibition plans are progressing, how to donate artifacts or just to read up on what the museum will be about," Heasley said.
The site has photographic collections and exhibits and information, and will soon have information on how you can support the museum or join the foundation.
Heasley said artifacts continue to come in from organizations and individuals all over the installation, retirees, and citizens who are interested. Those interested in donating historical material, or volunteering can contact Heasley at 410-278-3794; e-mail roy.e.heasley.civ@mail.mil; post a note on Facebook; message him on the new APG Museum website at http://www.apg.army.mil/apgmuseum/.
