Camp Sabalu-Harrison, Afghanistan -- Air Force Brig. Gen. Vincent Mancuso, National Defense University fellow, tours a detainee housing unit at the Detention Facility in Parwan Oct. 6, 2012. Several general officers from the NDU toured the Detention Facility. The general officers are attending the Capstone General and Flag Officer Course. The curriculum examines major issues affecting national security decision making, military strategy, joint combined doctrine, interoperability and key allied nation issues. The five-week course consists of overseas field studies involving interactions with combatant commanders of U.S. unified commands. The objective is to make these individuals more effective in planning and employing U.S. forces in joint and combined operations. The tour was guided by Lt. Gen. Keith Huber, commander, Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435, Brig. Gen. Dash Jamieson, deputy commander, CJIATF 435, and Col. Robert M. Taradash, commander, Task Force Protector. CJIATF 435 oversees all detainee operations in Afghanistan. Task Force Protector personnel ensure the secure and humane care, custody and control of the detainees within the facility.
