CRANE, Ind -- Crane Army Ammunition Activity joined the other commands on Naval Support Activity Crane in kicking off the 2012 Combined Federal Campaign at the Crane Café Oct. 3.
Speaking to a crowd of Army and Navy civilians and employees, CAAA Commander Col. Linwood Clark expressed to the crowd the important role the CFC has played over the years in helping local, national and worldwide charities.
"The Combined Federal Campaign is a fantastic way for all of us to show our spirit of giving," Clark said. "The CFC is the world's largest and most successful workplace charity campaign, with hundreds of CFC campaigns locally, nationally and internationally to help raise millions of dollars each year."
Clark set the example for his workforce by being the first person in Crane Army to turn in his contribution form. It is a contribution that will help CAAA try to reach its goal of $16,000. This amount will feed into the overall Crane goal of $221,000.
The CFC is the only authorized solicitation of Federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations. The CFC offers federal employees a way to easily and conveniently make a contribution to the good of society as a whole based upon their values.
The CFC kickoff event's master of ceremonies and Navy employee, Jamie Blackwell, explained that the campaign would run until December 2. "I know that we can count on the generosity of our Crane workforce to make a big difference in our community and improve the quality of life for those less fortunate than us."
The theme of this year's CFC campaign is "Where the Heart is…" and it was a subject touched upon by each speaker at the event. The audience was encouraged to look through the campaign directory booklet and learn more about the local charities listed in it.
"It is in our power to make a difference in the lives of our fellow Americans and to show the generosity within our hearts," Clark said. "Let's make a difference this year and show our neighbors that we care."
CAAA is part of the Joint Munitions Command and is a tenant on Naval Support Activity Crane. The Army activity maintains ordnance professionals and infrastructure to receive, store, ship, produce, renovate and demilitarize conventional ammunition, missiles and related components.
