YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea - Yongsan taxi drivers went on strike April 28, and garrison officials have increased shuttle bus service until the taxi service is restored.

Shuttle service on Yongsan Garrison will run every 15 minutes during the peak periods of 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5:30 p.m., said Garrison Logistics Director Lydia Grohmann.

Shuttle buses to Hannam will operate on normal schedule.

"We are monitoring the situation, and if we see the need to add more shuttle service, we will do so," Grohmann said.

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service has a contract with Arirang World Cup Taxi Ltd. to provide on-call and pick-up taxi services in Areas I and II.

Another company has 30 taxis operating on Yongsan, but only offers curbside service.
