CAMP HUMPHREYS -- The 2012 Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas Kickoff Ceremony was held here, Sept. 18. The event took place in the Post Exchange atrium at noon and lasted till 1 p.m. Many Soldiers and representatives of donation funds and the United Service Organizations were in attendance to celebrate the event.

David Satterfield, the Area III CFC coordinator, welcomed everyone to the ceremony and introduced the Garrison Commander Col. Darin S. Conkright who delivered information about last year as well as this year's CFC.

The installation commander emphasized the importance of CFC-O by calling it "the best way for the organization to ensure that money goes back into the system because by doing it you donate to FSYP (Family Support & Youth Programs). It means 100 percent of the pledges that you donate will go directly back into the garrison."

Conkright also noted the success of USAG Humphreys in the CFC-O campaign last year.

"Last year USAG-Humphreys/Area III raised nearly $320,000 -- a remarkable intake of donations that set the standard for the entire peninsula, and resulted in us winning the 2012 PACOM (Pacific Command) Special Merit Award, the third acquisition of this award by USAG-Humphreys/Area III since 2005," said Conkright.

The garrison commander went on to congratulate the winners of the 2012 CFC Coin Design Contest - David Satterfield, Edward Johnson, Jon Grayson, James Clark and Chin-Kyong Yi of USAG Humphreys.

"In March 2012, the CFC-O held a Coin Design Contest, open to all Department of Defense employees and their Family Members. The purpose of the contest was to select a unique design for the 2012 CFC-O contributor coin representing the theme of the campaign: 'Serve To Honor Your Country. Give Because You Care.' The winning design will be replicated on a coin and distributed to select contributors to the 2012 CFC-O this fall," said Conkright.

To conclude the event Conkright thanked everyone for participating and wished them a "happy CFC season."
