FORT HUACHCUA, Ariz. - Morale, Welfare and Recreation Rents offers Soldiers and other military affiliated personnel the chance to do something different with their days off.

Anybody military affiliated or Department of Defense civilians and contractors can rent the different things from MWR Rents. "At MWR Rents we have all of your camping equipment, everything you need to camp -- RVs (recreational vehicles), travel trailers, kayaks, bouncers [jumping castles] mountain bikes, table and chairs, grills, dunk tanks and everything to just have a good time," said Outdoor Recreation Specialist Sheryl Aguirre, Outdoor Recreation, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Directorate.

The prices for the different equipment range drastically, depending on what is rented. The trailers and RVs are typically $400 dollars per weekend with $200 dollars being refunded when the vehicle is turned in clean and the waste tank is dumped, Aguirre said.

Trailers are less expensive but customers will need a vehicle to tow them. The kayaks for a weekend are $50, and they come with everything you need to kayak except for the water, she explained. "The other stuff is all priced very reasonably," Aguirre added.

Customers should reserve equipment such as bouncers as soon as they know they want it and MWR rents can put them in the system. "During the summer the RVs and trailers are really hard to get, so if you want to try and reserve one of those, call with a couple dates so hopefully we can get you in one," Aguirre said.

"We are friendly and fun -- that is why you should rent from here. I think that we have quality products. We are here for the Soldiers and the Families, and pricewise it is just very economical," Aguirre added.

MWR rents offers more then just rental equipment; different outings and trips are also available. A trip to the Salt River in Phoenix is being offered on Aug. 25 (information on Page 15A), leaving Fort Huachuca at 7 a.m. and retuning around 7 p.m. that same day.

MWR vans provide transportation for up to 20 people to the river. "We have gone once, and it was a lot of fun," said Chassity Barringer, lead recreation assistant.

Tuesday tours are also offered out of MWR Rents. "We take people to Tombstone, Bisbee, Coronado Monument and by the Dragoon Mountains to see different sites," Barringer said. "We get a lot of elderly and people [new to Fort Huachuca] that want to see the different sites, and each Tuesday is a different location."

MWR Rents offers transportation for the Tuesday tours. It costs $10 a person and gives people the opportunity to explore on their own. "The trips are lots of fun, and we will keep them going as long as people continue to go and enjoy it," Barringer added. To take a tour, call MWR Rents to reserve a space.

"The Tuesday tours are typically big in the winter time when the snow birds come to the RV park. We haven't done one in quite a while so it would be good to get back into the swing of that," Aguirre said. Apache ATV tours are also promoted through MWR Rents, and anyone wanting to participate should call.

"We also have in our building the contractor Lock and Leave Storage Center for mini household storage that is very reasonably priced," Aguirre added. "A lot of people use it to store seasonal stuff, and they have different sizes [of storage units] available."
