DLA Troop Support Europe and Africa welcomes new leadership

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany -- Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Europe and Africa senior leaders, employees and partners from across the region, gathered to welcome the new commander during an Assumption of Command ceremony August 8 in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Army Lt. Col. Patrick E. Taylor comes to DLA Troop Support Europe and Africa from the U.S. Army Europe G4, where he served as the deployment operations chief in the Mobility Operations division.

DLA Troop Support Acting Commander Navy Rear Adm. Patricia Wolfe, who presided over the ceremony, praised Taylor for his accomplishments and shared her excitement for his new assignment.

"Congratulations to you, Lt. Col. Taylor, for being selected to command this outstanding and crucial organization," she said. "Your logistics experience on multiple deployments, including Iraq and Afghanistan, assignments to key positions of increased responsibility … all indicate to me the high-quality leader you are."

A member of the Army since 1987, Taylor has served in numerous transportation and logistics positions and has received many awards and honors. He received his commission as a transportation officer from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. and has received many honors and awards, including the Bronze Star..

Being new to DLA Troop Support as well, Wolfe stated that the key to success is the camaraderie and network built with the various organizations that came to welcome Taylor.

"I'm quite new to Troop Support," she said. "And as I begin to make fascinating discoveries about the complexity of the work you all do here, there is one single theme that strikes me; that weaves its way through every aspect of our collective work. And that is the importance of relationships."

Wolfe noted that Taylor's knowledge and experience will make him an asset to the organization.

"I view DLA Troop Support Europe and Africa as the hub of all these organizations," Wolfe said. "Lt. Col. Taylor, you're now at the center of these relationships -- ensuring communications, collaboration, clarification and focus. We're all lucky to have you as part of the team."
