Soldier Spotlight: Getting to know Lt. Col. Liz Yarbrough

Name: Lt. Col. Liz Yarbrough, Training and Doctrine Command Capability Manager for Space and Global Missile Defense and space liaison officer to the Army staff, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command, Arlington, Va.

Age: Ancient (but inside, I'm 7 years old)

Hometown: Denver, Colo.

Joined the Army: When dinosaurs roamed the plains (1989)

Route to Commission: A big, gray, mental institution on the Hudson

MOS: 31A -- military police, and serving as an FA-40 (space dudette) now

Education: Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering (GENUINE rocket scientist) and a master's degree in communications (I'll edit your ears off)

Marital Status: Married to the most amazing hunk…

Children: Two of the four-legged kind -- a 65-pound "me" and a 6.5-pound "mini-me"

Activities/Hobbies: Reading, writing, and 'rithmatic. Oh, I mean reading, writing, and running from 'rithmatic.

Favorite Movie: Miss Congeniality

Favorite TV show: Mentalist

Favorite band: N/A

Favorite thing about the Army: PUSH UPS!

What I've learned being a Soldier: People are individuals with very specific gifts and strengths. Each will excel when allowed to use those gifts. And you can NEVER imagine the creative ability of ONE SOLDIER! Oh, and I also learned to count: "Zero, zero, zero…"

What inspires you to be a Soldier: The generation now passing the age of 60. They believe in us, and trust us to defend them and make this country strong.
