FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. -- Fort Leonard Wood and the Directorate of Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation will be hosting the annual Independence Day Celebration beginning at 3 p.m. July 4 on Gammon Field.

The installation will celebrate the 236th year since the signing of the Declaration of Independence with various games, activities and performances. Participants are encouraged to check out the great custom rides on display during the car show event from 3 to 6 p.m.

A Salute to the Union will begin at 7 p.m.; followed by the 90-minute Army Soldier Show at 7:30 p.m. Fort Leonard Wood Operation Rising Star winner Sgt. Jon Whittle, a member of the 94th Engineer Battalion, is scheduled to perform in this year's show.

The event will conclude with a fireworks display. Concessions will be available. Lawn chairs and blankets are permitted. No pets, coolers or personal fireworks will be allowed. For more information call 573-596-6913 or visit fortleonardwoodmwr.com.
