FORT BELVOIR, Va(June 20, 2012) --Nearly 100 patients received their annual school physicals June 20 during a back-to-school rodeo event at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital.
In addition to the school physicals, healthcare providers from the Pediatrics and Family Medicine clinics updated children's immunizations and authorized medication forms in preparation for the upcoming school year.
The clinics are typically booked well in advance during the summer for youth physicals, so the event is designed to get as many physicals done in a single day without people having to make appointments.
"We received so many comment cards back saying how well organized and professional it was," said Navy Lt. Robyn White, clinical nurse officer-in-charge. "The patients were all prepared, and it was a success."
Other clinics and organizations participated in the rodeo-themed event as venders. The Red Cross brought crayons to entertain the kids while they waited; therapy dogs were on hand to play; and pharmacy, family practice, the nutrition clinic, and the fire team were available to educate patients and answer questions.
The clinics will host two more rodeos -- July 25 and August 15. Patients must sign-up for an appointment through the clinic at 571-231-1015 or 571-231-1803/1805.
