FORT BRAGG, N.C. (June 22, 2012) - U.S. Army Forces Command hosted a two-day U.S. Army Installation Command-Army Sustainment Command rehearsal of concept drill to examine and understand plans for the transition of Directorate of Logistics operations and functions from IMCOM to Army Materiel Command. ASC is the operational arm of Army Materiel Command and executive agent for the DOL mission transfer.

The objective of the gathering was three-fold:

- to identify and elevate gaps in service provided that cannot be resolved by mitigation strategies or resources on hand;

- to analyze contract transition and potential fiscal year 2013 challenges;

- to clarify fiscal year 2013 command and control, roles, and responsibilities.

"Basically, we want to validate we're on track with the plans you've built, that installations have put together, in order to make sure we don't have any hiccups along the way in support to the warfighter," Brig. Gen. John R. O'Connor, the FORSCOM deputy chief of staff for logistics and host of the drill, told attendees from FORSCOM's subordinate units' supporting installations, IMCOM, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, U.S. Army Reserve Command, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, and ASC.

O'Connor also encouraged those present to listen for ideas presented by all attendees that might apply to their particular responsibilities and missions.

"We want to see ourselves better," he said. "We can capitalize across FORSCOM on opportunities and events going on at each other's installations."
