The 5th Battlefield Coordination Detachment held a Change of Responsibility Ceremony on June 6, 2012 at the Aloha Aina Park located at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.

The 5th BCD bid farewell to Command Sgt. Maj. Hai Dang, who will become the command sergeant major for the 3rd Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. They also welcomed Sgt. Maj. William G. Moore, a former 3rd BCT, 25th Infantry Division security force advisor and a El Paso, Texas native as the unit's new operations sergeant major.

"Today is not about the honor owed to myself," said Command Sgt. Maj. H. Dang, who is the outgoing operations sergeant major for the 5th BCD and a California native. "It's about the recognition of the hard work and dedication of the unit's officers, noncommissioned officers, Soldiers and their families."

Dang later stated, during his 29 years of military service he has always been blessed with great commanders and was humbled to have served with the 5th BCD Ohana.

Moore said, that his effort as incoming operations sergeant major for the 5th BCD was encompassed in the third stanza of the Ranger Creed. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some.

Sgt. Maj. Moore's awards and decorations include: Combat Action Badge, Bronze Star Medal (3 oak leaf clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (6 oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (4 oak leaf clusters), Air Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4 oak leaf clusters), Jump Master badge, Military Freefall wings, Air Assault, Helicopter Crewman badge, Foreign Jump Wings, and several other awards in support of Operation Desert Storm, Kosovo, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and the coveted Ranger Tab.
