CAMP BEUHRING, KUWAIT -- Bravo Company, 3-159th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion (ARB) displayed its aerial capabilities in front of Kuwait's Air Force in May as part of its initiation into Operation "Spartan Shield".
The Bravo Company "Bounty Hunters" flew high during a combined arms live-fire exercise with the 1-82nd Field Artillery Task Force and the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division.
Combined arms live-fire exercises and systems exhibitions were conducted over the course of three days from May 6 to May 8th, culminating in a joint live-fire exercise with the Kuwaiti Air Force. The event took place at a live-fire range just a few kilometers south of here.
Bravo Company's AH-64D Longbow Apaches flew in support of several M1A2 Abrams tanks, M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, and Kuwaiti T-72 tanks. During the exercise, both air and ground units engaged in exercises designed to simulate combat. The 3-159th ARB's Apaches fired numerous rockets throughout the exercise, displaying their weapons capabilities. At the close of each day, 3-159th ARB's pilots taught classes demonstrating the helicopter's capabilities to their Kuwaiti counterparts.
The combined arms live-fire exercise is the first in a series of coordinated efforts between 3-159th ARB and the Kuwaiti armed forces as 3-159th ARB continues its support of Operation "Spartan Shield".
