Sgt. Maj. Timothy Beall, left, sergeant major of Security Force Assistance Team 14's "Iron Gladiators", 191st Infantry Brigade, Division West, receives his First Army combat patch from his team commander, Maj. Matthew Carl, during a ceremony at Camp Nathan Smith, Khandahar City, Afghanistan, May 27. Beall, a mobilized Army Reserve Soldier, has been assigned to the 191st Infantry Brigade for more than a decade and deployed on his first overseas contingency tour in April. More than 135 hand-picked First Army senior officers and noncommissioned officers assigned to training support brigades deployed as 13 teams to support the Army's new SFAT mission in Afghanistan, making this only the second time in more than 50 years that First Army Soldiers have deployed to a combat zone.
