FORT GREELY, Alaska - The 49th Missile Defense Battalion at Fort Greely is an Army National Guard unit that operates and secures the nation's operational arm of the ballistic missile defense system.

May 18-22 the 49th Missile Defense Battalion participated in a multi-agency training exercise that tested force protection measures and validated training objectives. Exercise participants included the 49th Missile Defense Battalion (Alaska National Guard), the 100th Missile Defense Brigade (Colorado National Guard), the Fort Greely Garrison and the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command.
