ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - Four Soldiers from Aberdeen Proving Ground re-enlisted March 17 during a special ceremony hosted by the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Materiel Command.
Gen. Benjamin Griffin, commander for the U.S. Army Materiel Command, re-enlisted the four Soldiers and presented two retention awards immediately following the Team C4ISR Ground Breaking Ceremony.
Griffin spoke about the vital role Soldiers play, as they are the Army's greatest asset. "Money you can always get," said Griffin. "But to re-enlist these four Soldiers, I don't know how many millions of dollars that's worth."
Sgt. 1st Class Kristin Barret, Staff Sgt. Jeffry Endly, Sgt. Samuel Yoo, and Sgt. John Keister, yet again, took the oath to protect and defend the country against adversaries foreign and domestic. Barret and Endly re-enlisted for an indefinite period, while Yoo and Keister re-enlisted for an additional three years of service.
While there, Griffin presented the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command and the AMC Band with the 2007 AMC Retention Award for exceeding their retention mission. RDECOM celebrated a 115 percent retention achievement, as AMC also surpassed their goal with a 106 percent achievement.
Next year will be no different, said Master Sgt. Thomas Bogetti, RDECOM retention officer. "As a retention officer, I equip Soldiers with a wealth of career knowledge so they can make an informed career decision," said Bogetti. He said he keeps Soldiers at the forefront of mind and supports them in any way during the career decision process. Bogetti said he has already reached 65 percent achievement of the 2008 retention goals.
