BG Karen Dyson speaks at the National Guard Best Practices Conference

BG Karen Dyson, Director of the Business Operations Directorate, Army Office of Business Transformation, shared her thoughts with 120 members of the Army National Guard representing each of the 54 states and territories during the National Guard Best Practices Conference held in St. Louis, Missouri.

The conference was designed to recognize Army community of excellence programs and best practices utilized in business transformation.

BG Dyson discussed the challenges and opportunities that face the Army today and as we progress towards the Army of 2020. She stressed to the audience that Army senior leaders are engaged at all levels and understand the fiscal challenges confronting the Nation and the US Army.

BG Dyson discussed implementing cost culture into all units in the Army. "In this fiscally constrained environment, cost informed decisions are critical". She also highlighted the need for stewardship of all resources and holding people accountable and managing costs.

BG Dyson recognized the outstanding efforts of the units in attendance and highlighted the efforts of the Wisconsin National Guard for being the overall winner of the Army Communities of Excellence Program.

She discussed partnering with the National Guard to improve outreach and capturing efficiencies between Army components.
