Five ISEC team members supporting the Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP) were recognized during a ceremony April 18, 2012, at Fort Belvoir, Va., for work they provided to the I3MP Project Manager office.

U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command (ISEC) personnel were selected for recognition at I3MP Development Days based on positive feedback and recommendations from the PM leadership and ISEC supervisors on their contributions to various projects.

Those recognized during the ceremony were Dave Stout, site lead engineer; Jeremy Mohr, senior technical advisor; Roger Gore, top level architecture engineer; Steve Austin, senior technical advisor; and Meredith Miller, project support analyst.

These individuals were recognized for commendable performance and their commitment to the mission that enables the PM to complete its mission of modernizing the Army's telephone and computer network infrastructure. The projects included designing the information technology infrastructure that provide data and voice services at Army bases, camps, and stations across the world. The ISEC team members develop engineering designs that are documented in a Technical Data Package (TDP). The TDP is then provided to the PM in order to obtain a contract that is competitively awarded to one of the large IT defense contractors for implementation at the installation.

"In many cases our engineers design what a large company will eventually field," said Maj. Michael Roder, ISEC I3MP project lead. "The team has really hit a home run over the past two or three months for [the PM]."

Roder said there are approximately 70 projects on-going at any given time and there are about 150 people in the field handling those projects. He said that over the past few months there was a push to get projects completed and the engineers, particularly those identified, stepped up to the plate.

"Because of the extra hours and hard work that the people that were recognized put in, we [ISEC] were able to help the PM keep projects moving forward and into contracting," he said.

According to Roder, this was the first time ISEC had submitted nominations for recognition of this type. He said ISEC's solid engineering support and dedication led the PM to take notice of their accomplishments.

"I think it solidifies the PM's confidence in ISEC to keep supporting I3MP and to provide the expertise and the technical know-how to meet its mission," Roder said. "The bottom line is that the PM is responsible for the mission and manages projects, but the PM needs engineers to accomplish that mission. And I think [the PM's] has great confidence that ISEC is the right place to get that expertise."
