FORT EUSTIS, Va. - U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command will host the 3rd Annual Army Learning Summit May 1-3 at the TRADOC headqAruarters located at Fort Eustis.

The summit is the U.S. Army and TRADOC's principle forum for focusing training and education on the Army Learning Model -- best practices associated with learning.

Participants at the summit will discuss potential changes to the Army's methods of teaching and training. Adopting these methods will change how approximately 600,000 Soldiers and civilians are taught annually in TRADOC's institutions.

Past summits sought to define how the Army envisioned training and learning in the future. This summit will focus on using online gaming, mobile applications and virtual environments and technologies to better train future generations of Soldiers experienced with the digital world.

Blending traditional learning with virtual, collaborative environments and easy access to mobile applications to deliver information to Soldiers when they need it.

"I think learning in a dynamic sense, to touch that information at that critical point, is really what we're after in the Army Learning Concept," said Gen. Robert W. Cone, commanding general TRADOC at the Army aviation conference Jan. 26.

The Army and TRADOC's goal is to develop an atmosphere of lifelong learning and self-development within the Army.

Keynote speakers for the summit are Cone, Lt. Gen. John E. Sterling, Jr., deputy commanding general TRADOC, and Lt. Gen. David G. Perkins, commanding general United States Army Combined Arms Center, and Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel A. Dailey, TRADOC command sergeant major.

Presentation of the 23rd Annual TRADOC Instructor and Educator of the Year awards will be one of the summits culminating events.
