Fort Shafter, Hawaii--Soldiers that go on any exercises overseas know they will work long hours and for one Soldiers in the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command his hard work paid off in the exercise Key Resolve.

During Key Resolve Spc. Russell Lane, the Night Senior Theater Balistic Missile Analyst and a native of Houston, was awarded two coins while operating in exercises in Korea.

Lane said, he was selected as Hero of the Battle by his peers, because of all the hard work that he did during the exercise.

"I was the only soldier from the 94th to receive coins. I received one from the Korean Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Park and one from the 7th Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Jouas."

Lane was in charge of overlooking the battalion update brief and making sure that it was up to date as well as any other duties that were required of him.

Spc. Lane was one of only two soldiers that received these coins.

"I was ecstatic going up there and getting a coin from a 3 star and Korean general," said Lane.

Lane offered these words of advice to Soldiers that will be in the same position in the future, "always have a good hard work ethic."

"Have good team cohesion because my battle buddy was with me that night and he played a big role in helping me out."
