Command Sgt. Maj. Lebert O. Beharie is the senior enlisted adviser for the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. Beharie assumed the responsibility March 16, 2012.

Beharie enlisted in the Army in September 1986. After attending Basic Training at Fort Dix, N.J., he graduated from Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis, Va., as an Aircraft Fire Control Repairman.

He has a bachelor of science degree in professional aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and is pursuing a master of science in aviation management degree.

His duty assignments include aircraft fire control repairman, squad leader, and section sergeant with the 58th Aviation Maintenance Company in Hanau, Germany. He was then reassigned as an instructor writer with the 3rd Staff and Faculty at Fort Eustis, Va. He served as Platoon Sergeant with Company A, 603rd Aviation Support Battalion in Ansbach, Germany. He continued service with Company A, 7th Battalion 159th Aviation Regiment as the production control noncommissioned officer. He was further reassigned to 8th Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Ky., as the Company C First Sergeant. He also served as the First Sergeant for Charlie Troop, 6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry during the Unit Fielding Training Program at Fort Hood, Texas. He continued service as the First Sergeant for Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry in Illesheim, Germany. He was then reassigned as the Operation Sergeant Major for the 11th Attack Helicopter Regiment in Illesheim, Germany. His next assignment was serving as the (Expect No Mercy) 1st-101st Aviation Regiment Command Sergeant Major.

In his most recent assignment Beharie served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

Beharie has served four combat tours of duty in the Persian Gulf.

He is a graduate of the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, the First Sergeant Course, the Sergeants Major and Command Sergeants Major Courses. Other school includes the Air Assault Course, Master Fitness Course and the Instructor/Writer Training Course.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, South West Asia Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Kuwait Liberation Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Good Conduct Service Medal award, the Master Air Crewmember Badge, and the coveted Air Assault Badge. He was awarded the bronze medal for the Order of Saint Michael.

Command Sergeant Major Beharie is married and has three children.
