BAQUBAH, Iraq (Army News Service, Nov. 28) - Life around Forward Operating Base Warhorse includes more than work as members of the "Blacksmith" battalion proved during a company-wide fun day Nov. 26.

The day gave Soldiers from Company B, 215th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, the change to blow off steam and build morale.

"We're out here to try and build morale in our Soldiers," said 1st Sgt. Walter Barrow, Company B first sergeant. "They work so hard during the week, so we try to pick a day out of the month to have special events for them."

For Spc. Craig Woolever it was a chance to step away from the long hours at work and have a blast with those he calls his brothers.

"It was nice to come out here for a company fun day," said Woolever. "It really does build morale in all the shops."

The Soldiers participated in relay, three-legged and wheelbarrow races; a basketball tournament pitting platoons against one another; an egg toss; tug-of-war and pie throwing.

Best of all, said Woolever, was the sumo wrestling.

"The sumo wrestling was great," he said. "If we have another event like this, I definitely want to do that again."

The Soldiers were given sumo wrestling outfits - heavily padded suits resembling the body of Japanese sumo - by the FOB's Morale, Welfare and Recreation Center.

"It's just hilarious and so fun to watch everyone get in the suits and roll around," Woolever said.

"With the Soldiers being away from home and their families, we wanted to give them something fun to look forward to and to get their minds off things and relax," said Barrow.
