Fort Benning to host West Point spring football scrimmage

FORT BENNING, Ga. (March 7, 2012) -- Fort Benning will host the West Point spring football scrimmage at Doughboy Stadium. Kickoff is 2 p.m., Friday.

Army conducted 14 practice sessions in its home stadium at West Point, N.Y., leading up to the final preseason intrasquad scrimmage, known as the annual Black and Gold Game, being held here. This is the first time the Black and Gold Game has been played at a location other than West Point.

During the scrimmage, the Black Knights will be divided into two teams, Black and Gold, representing the Infantry and Armor branches. Their football uniforms will be unique, bearing either the Infantry crest and patch or the Armor crest and patch. The uniforms were donated by Nike.

All activities surrounding the West Point spring scrimmage will focus on the Army value of "Duty."

There is no admission charge and concessions will be available for purchase.
