FORT BRAGG, N.C. (Feb. 13, 2012) The U.S. Army Forces Command's own Army Ground Forces Band will perform a free concert in Methodist University's Reeves Auditorium at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 3.
No tickets are required for this "Stage, Screen, & Patriotic Favorites" show.
"This will be a fun-for-the-family and unabashedly patriotic concert that offers the Sand Hills community an opportunity to hear our world-class musicians perform," said the band commander, Maj. Treg E. Ancelet.
The evening will feature a lively mix of music that will include numbers by the March King, John Philip Sousa, as well as a Glenn Miller Medley, Giuseppe Verdi's "Triumphal March," the Mariah Carey arrangement of "God Bless America" and made-for-the-movies compositions such as Johan de Meij's "Gandalf" from The Lord of Rings and "The Raiders of the Lost Ark March" by John Williams.
In addition to carrying out many on-post ceremonial music missions including President Barack Obama's visit in December, the band and its various ensembles have been busy since moving here last summer introducing themselves to the citizens of North Carolina, performing free concerts and holding master classes and clinics at schools and colleges around the region.
The 64 Soldiers assigned to The Army Ground Forces Band have passed highly selective auditions and are among the finest musicians in the Army Band Program.
