FORT BENNING, Ga. -- The Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation's Tickets & Travel held its open house Wednesday -- taking over from Omega Travel following the expiration of their contract.
Previously, Omega handled ticket sales for the past five years. Bridgett Siter, MWR marketing specialist, said it was a chance to save the customer money by cutting out the "middle man."
Alex Sutphin, marketing assistant, said more money can be saved with MWR Tickets & Travel.
MWR Tickets & Travel is offering local, regional and national discounts on tickets, as well as cruises and vacation packages. For example, a family consisting of two adults and two children can save almost $30 for tickets to the Georgia Aquarium, if they go through MWR Tickets & Travel.
"Eventually -- within the next couple of months -- (MWR Tickets & Travel) is going to be able to sell BOSS tickets and people will be able to sign up for BOSS trips and get tickets to MWR events," Sutphin said.
Toni Palmer, who was in search of discounted Sea World tickets for her family, said she liked the convenience of having a local place she could go to and an organization she could trust.
"It's convenient for military Families with them being on post instead of (needing to go) off-post," said Palmer, a military spouse.
MWR's Ticket & Travel is located in the commissary mall on Marne Road. The office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday.
