GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany -- As the snow falls in Garmisch, a service member couple on vacation at the Armed Forces Recreation Center, Edelweiss Lodge and Resort cozy up to the fireplace and enjoy a glass of wine after a great day. Another family who is on R&R leave from Iraq is relaxing in the hot tub after a sightseeing tour to the famous Neuschwanstein castle. Outside the resort, the kids are enjoying making a snowman with their dad who just returned from a long deployment.

What do these service members on vacation all have in common? They all can share their vacation photos, update their Facebook status, check on travel plans and Skype their friends to brag about what a good time they are having on vacation by using the free wireless Internet now available during their stay made possible by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Like many of these Soldiers on vacation, the VFW has been there and knows what type of support service members and their families need. That is why the VFW partnered with the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort to offer free wireless Internet to all vacationing and conference service members' guests. VFW members appreciate the chance to support fellow service members through every stage of their military experience, even including the moments when you are spending time on vacation.

"Having the opportunity to provide free wireless internet is just one of many ways to convey the VFW's utmost appreciation for the tremendous service and sacrifice of our nation's service members," said VFW Adjutant General, Allen "Gunner" Kent. "The VFW constantly strives to do everything possible toward ensuring that our men and women in uniform have the ability to stay connected with family members while deployed and now, while they vacation at Edelweiss Lodge and Resort, one of the world's premier vacation spots."

The VFW is also a proud sponsor of the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort federal holiday weekend celebrations. Every American holiday weekend will be full of special events such as live Bavarian shows, choreographed fireworks over the Alps, horse and carriage rides, family activities and much more for service members and their families to enjoy.

"Edelweiss Lodge and Resort strives to provide a memorable vacation experience for our service member guests. With partners like the VFW, we are able to positively impact service members and their family's lives through rest and relaxation while on vacation," said Marc Jannsen, general manager of Edelweiss Lodge and Resort.
