BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan--Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas R. Capel toured a program manager 'petting zoo' sponsored by the 401st Army Field Support Brigade acquisition, logistics and technology directorate Jan. 21 and thanked the Soldiers, Marines, civilians and contractors who field, maintain and provide training for some of the most up to date technology on the battlefield just days before he officially assumed his duty as ISAF senior enlisted advisor.
Capel, the incoming NATO International Security Assistance Force command sergeant major, spent time viewing static and interactive displays of new materiel solutions recently fielded to the maneuver units to give them the decisive edge. He also talked with program and product mangers, field support representatives and Army civilians who daily work with the maneuver units to ensure they not only have the most up to date technology but also have the training to use it and the support they need to maintain it on the battlefield.
After touring the exhibits and getting hands-on experience with some of the technology, Capel thanked those who help bring "America's sons and daughters home." He presented coins to a number of people and said he wished he could personally thank everyone but asked those present to convey his appreciation to their coworkers.
