A range safety inspects a weapon to ensure it is safe to take off the firing line during a range for Division Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Infantry Division Soldiers at Fort Riley, Kan., Jan. 9. All weapons are cleared twice, once on the firing line and again at a clearing barrel, before shooters leave the range.
