NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa.,(Jan. 6, 2012) - Military Technicians from the 99th Regional Support Command's, Area Maintenance Support Activity # 31 here received a special perk when they received free coffee and doughnuts at work delivered to them from a local radio station.
Douglas Phelps, who is currently part of the 10-man team at the facility, nominated the AMSA for a program known as "Office Perks" that is sponsored by WSTW 93.7 and Brew Ha Ha espresso café/newsstand.
AMSA # 31 became the first in the Army Reserve to win the weekly "Office Perks" prize.
"Office Perks started about four years ago," said Andrew Sgori, traffic reporter for WSTW. "Brew Ha Ha wanted to have an opportunity for listeners to win their products to encourage them to visit their various locations."
"The promotion department came up with a program where they can invite listeners to enter their names, and then the names are entered into a weekly drawing. Then the lucky listener is visited at the workplace," added Sgori.
While the free food and coffee was well received, the greatest satisfaction that the AMSA team gets is helping local units succeed and perform their missions and offering great customer service on every project, said Andy Allen, AMSA # 31 supervisor.
"We support the Army Reserve units in this geographical area," said Allen. "The Army Reserve units perform about 20 percent of their maintenance, and because of the limited staffing on the full-time support, our mission is to fill that void and perform the additional 80 percent."
The 99th Regional Support Command currently has 26 AMSAs scattered throughout its 13 state area of responsibility, with only one mission: to maintain the various Army Reserve unit equipment in their geographical area.
