ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. -- The U.S. Army's efforts to inspire, attract and develop the next generation of scientists and engineers received a boost Dec. 5.
Outside the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command headquarters building, RDECOM commander Maj. Gen. Nick Justice got a preview of the new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Asset Vehicle.
Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Oliver and Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Adam, from the U.S. Army Accessions Support Brigade's Mobile Exhibit Company at Fort Knox, Ky., will drive the vehicle across the country to STEM education outreach events. They led Justice on a tour of the vehicle's capabilities.
Students from seven Maryland schools are also getting an up-close look at the vehicle as they perform beta testing Dec. 5 to 8.
Beth McGrath, executive director for the Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education at Stevens Institute of Technology, and CIESE Director Arthur Camins joined Justice and the RDECOM STEM outreach team for the preview.
The Army will unveil the vehicle to the public Jan. 6 during All-American Bowl Week in San Antonio.
