FORT LEE, Va. - Maj. Gen. James L. Hodge, Combined Arms Support Command commanding general, and Col. Todd A. Heussner, 43rd Sustainment Brigade commanding officer, unveiled a painting commissioned by the 43rd Sustainment Brigade, Task Force Rough Riders, to honor logistics Soldiers Nov. 28. The painting was presented to the CASCOM headquarters as a way to honor and recognize the accomplishments of all sustainment Soldiers who have served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The brigade was responsible for sustaining an area the size of Montana, participated in more than 175 named operations, supported 73,000 Soldiers and civilians and serviced 458 forward operating locations during their deployment.
"The numbers are huge," Hodge said. "But they are typical for what our warrior logisticians do every day to provide support."
