Name: Dr. Claudette C. Owens, supervisory engineer, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala.

Age: I'm 50, and just happy to be alive.

Hometown: I grew up in rural South Alabama (Frisco City), and I'm currently a resident of Hartselle.

Years of federal service: 27 years

Education: Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering technology, Bachelor of Science in electrical computer engineering, Master of Science in physics, and a Master of Science in biblical studies

Marital status: I'm married to my college sweetheart

Children: Three sons and a daughter-in-law

Activities/hobbies: Motivational speaking, reading, writing, acting, singing, watching movies

Favorite movie: The Preacher's Wife and Forest Gump

Favorite TV show: NCIS

Favorite band: I don't really have a favorite band. I have a love and appreciation for music overall.

Favorite thing about working for the Army: My favorite thing about working for the Army is the opportunity to develop tools/technology and provide resources to aide our Soldiers and their families. And the honor of working with great professionals from all walks of life.

What made you want to work for the Army: I think the chance to co-op is what helped me gain an understanding and appreciation for civil service, specifically the Army. I was drawn to the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology and resources that benefitted our Soldiers, the travel and the renowned engineers and researchers that supported the Army.
