FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. - Military, federal, state, local officials reaffirmed their committment to Fort Meade by signing the Fort Meade Community Covenant at the BWI International Airport today.

The signing ceremony followed the USO-Metro's Veterans Day ceremony.

The opening sentence "Together we are dedicated to building lasting bonds for the support and welfare of the Fort George G. Meade Military Community and to improve the strength of the entire Fort Meade region" is the overarching theme to the Community Covenant, which recognizes the importance of partnerships between Fort Meade and its surrounding communities.

The Fort Meade Community Covenant Council is comprised of business, community and government organizations with an interest in addressing the needs, issues and concerns of service members, veterans, civilians and their families in the Fort Meade region.
