Top U.S. commander in Iraq visits Taji

Gen. David H. Petraeus, commander, Multi-National Force-Iraq, shakes hands with Staff Sgt. Travis Miller, a senior systems data integrator with the 1st "Ironhorse" Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division who calls both Webster Springs, W. Va. and Hartville, Ohio home, during a recognition ceremony at Camp Taji, Iraq Dec. 31 in which the general presented coins to some of the Ironhorse Brigade's top performing Soldiers. Miller was recognized for his communication support of the brigade's headquarters and staff.

Jeffrey Hinkley, an infantryman with the 1st "Ironhorse" Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division's personal security detachment, during a recognition ceremony on Camp Taji, Iraq Dec. 31. Petraeus also gave praise and thanks to all the Soldiers in the Ironhorse Brigade who have spent nearly 15-months in Iraq and will soon be re-deploying to the U.S.

CAMP TAJI, Iraq - Following a ceremony recognizing some of the 1st "Ironhorse" Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division's top performing Soldiers, Gen. David H. Petraeus praises the brigade during a visit to Camp Taji, Iraq Dec. 31 for the progress it has made in its area of responsibility throughout its 15-month deployment to Iraq. Todd McCaffrey, commander, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team Warriors, 25th Infantry Division attend a briefing in the Ironhorse Brigade conference room at Camp Taji, Iraq Dec. 31. The senior leaders met to discuss the upcoming transfer of authority between the Ironhorse Brigade, which has been in theater for nearly 15 months, and its counterparts in the Warrior Brigade.
