FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. -- The Military Police Corps Regiment inducted five new members into the MP Corps Regimental Hall of Fame on Sept. 14, at Pershing Community Center, here. The event was followed by a Hall of Fame Photo Hanging at the John B. Mahaffey Museum complex, MP Corps Museum.

Brig. Gen. David Phillips, U.S. Army Military Police School commandant and Command Sgt. Maj. Charles Kirkland, USAMPS regimental command sergeant major, presented an award to each recipient. The 2011 inductees were (in alphabetical order): Command Sgt. Maj. (R) James R. Armour, Command Sgt. Maj. (R) Merle D. Jones, Col. (R) Warren K. Rees, Maj. Gen. (R) Donald J. Ryder and 1st Sgt. (R) Russell W. Strand.

Phillips said, "You've made a difference, and it's now paying dividends for those young American men and women who are going into harm's way for us.

"You have set those conditions, and for every young Soldier, every young MP that comes through our museum and sees those pictures on the wall--they won't know exactly what you did--but they will reap the benefits of what you've accomplished."

Nominees must have contributed in some significant fashion to the evolution and definition of the Military Police Corps doctrine, mission and/or training. In certain instances the nomination may be based on a heroic action. A special selection board comprised of past and senior members of the MP Corps convenes at USAMPS to choose each year's inductees.
