ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. -- One of Anniston Army Depot's few military personnel was promoted to the rank of captain during a Sept. 1 ceremony held in Bldg. 7.
Capt. Jeffrey Hodge, an operations and planning officer for the Depot Operations Office, came to ANAD in 2010 from the 125th Brigade Support Battalion in Fortt Bliss, Texas.
"Capt. Hodge is an excellent Army officer, who is well deserving of this promotion," said Thyris Banks, chief of the Depot Operations Office. "He has been a definite asset to the Depot Operations Office and Anniston Army Depot. It is great to have him on the team."
Hodge was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2008 after graduating Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Ga.
He served as an interim company commander and executive officer earlier in his career.
Hodge has been the Officer in Charge for multiple military funerals, weapons ranges and special battalion projects as a result of his professionalism and ability to build a rapport with Soldiers and civilians alike.
Hodge's awards and medals include the Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal.
"While the Army typically promotes its leaders based on potential, it is clear to me that Capt. Hodge's performance has brought him to this level. Hodge has distinguished himself both in the enlisted ranks as well as during his time as an officer. His record is impeccable and I can't think of anyone more deserving. We are very fortunate to have him on our team here at Anniston," said Col. Timothy Sullivan, depot commander, who pinned Hodge's new rank on him.
Hodge told the small group gathered for his promotion that he was thankful to those who have supported him throughout his time in service, saying they helped him achieve his current status.
"Promotion ceremonies are not about the person being pinned," said Hodge. "They are about the people who helped to get you there."
Hodge's family was present for the promotion ceremony, including his three-year-old son Isaiah, who joined his father at the front of the room during the special moment.
