FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The Directorate of Logistics unveiled today a new way Supply and Services Division's Central Issue Facility can order organizational clothing and individual equipment for individual Soldiers deploying to combat areas.
"(E-Order is) for Soldiers who missed the RFI (rapid fielding initiative)," said Lashonda Leathers, CIF administrative assistant. "They come through the E-Order process and get everything that's needed for deployment."
The new program is also for Soldiers new to the unit but missed their RFI and individuals who deploy for specified overseas contingency operations, added Leathers.
To use E-Order, a web portal system, command and the CIF must do the following:
A unit representative contacts the supporting CIF and schedules an appointment for the deploying Soldier. The request must include the Soldier's name, rank, Social Security number, gender, military occupational specialty, unit identification code, theater of operation and a designated unit point of contact with name and e-mail address.
The CIF verifies the deployment status usually from a copy of the Soldier's orders and checks the individual's clothing records for duplication, prior to placing orders.
The CIF sizes the Soldier, a 30 to 40 minute process per Soldier, and orders the required organizational clothing and individual equipment through E-Order.
The Program Executive Office Soldier, the Army acquisition agency responsible for everything a Soldier wears or carries, will build the order. Within 10 days, the CIF should receive the order, post the transaction to the Soldier's records and notify the unit(s) to schedule an issue date for the Soldier.
When items not in stock are received, they will be sent to the Soldier's theater supporting project manager Soldier protection and individual equipment.
