The U.S. Army's Spirit of America show is ready for the road and will bring more than 300 active duty Soldiers from the U.S. Army Military District of Washington to the cities of Washington, D.C., North Charleston, S.C., and Jacksonville, Fla., in September, 2011.

The show received its final validation, approving it for public viewing by Maj. Gen. Michael S. Linnington, commanding general of the Joint Force Headquarter - National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, after a full dress rehearsal at the D.C. Armory August 30.

"I think we are right where we need to be [with Spirit of America] and I'm incredibly impressed with the growth over the last two weeks which has been nothing short of magnificent," said Linnington. "Every single person in this formation is key to our success on show day and I'm looking forward to presenting this show to thousands of Americans."

Historical accounts, taken directly from Soldiers' letters and diaries, provide the story line for the program, which is designed to entertain while presenting the history and development of the U.S. Army from its origins through the wars, conflicts and missions that have molded the Army and the nation.

Spirit of America performances are open to the public and admission is FREE, but tickets are required. See the related link for ticketing details.

This year, Spirit of America will be streamed LIVE from all four Washington, D.C. shows at the Verizon Center. Show times in D.C. are September 9 at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and September 10 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
