FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. " An assumption of responsibility ceremony was held to welcome a new senior leader to 5th Engineer Battalion, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade here Aug. 12.

Command Sgt. Maj. William J. Bennett was previously assigned to the Directorate of Training and Leader Development, United States Army Engineer School.

“This battalion has a history of serving our nation that goes back to our Civil War,” said Bennett, “and a proud legacy of engineering accomplishments on the battlefield.”

The 5th Engineer Bn. is one of two engineering battalions that fall under the 4th MEB. Its primary mission includes route clearance, road repair, expeditionary base improvement and mobility enhancement operations.

“I am humbled and honored to be part of this great team,” he said.
