FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. -- Ten Soldiers were honored for their military service during the Fort Huachuca Quarterly Installation Retirement Ceremony hosted by the 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, Friday, on historic Brown Parade Field.
Maj. Gen. Anthony Crutchfield, commanding general, U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Rucker, served as the guest speaker and was also present to retire his younger brother, Sgt. 1st Class Todd Crutchfield.
The general spoke of the many sacrifices the retirees have made throughout their military careers. He closed by saying, “I don’t have one brother standing on the field today; I have all of you, a band of brothers.”
The following 10 Soldiers were recognized at the ceremony:
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Thomas Gross has 20 years of Army service. His most recent assignment was as the aviation safety officer for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Aviation Brigade, Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii. He and his wife Sierra have two daughters, Kyla and Bria. They plan to reside in Sierra Vista.
Sgt. Maj. Joseph Turner has 24 years of Army service. He is assigned as the senior enlisted advisor for the Human Intelligence Training - Joint Center of Excellence. He and his wife Stacey have two daughters, Morgan and Darby. They plan to reside in Hereford.
Chaplain Lt. Col. Frederick Robinson has 30 years of Army service. He is assigned as the family life chaplain, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Huachuca. He and his wife Victoria have four adult children, Daniel, Nathan, Joanna, and Ruth. They plan to reside in Sierra Vista.
Maj. Robert Bezduch has 20 years of Army Service. He is assigned as the executive officer, 305th Military Intelligence Battalion. He and his wife Michele have two children, John and Stefanie. They plan to reside in Sierra Vista.
1st Sgt. David Swartley has 23 years of Army service. He is assigned as an instructor for the Battle Staff Course, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas. He and his wife Barbara have three children, Atheena, David, and Austin. They plan to reside in Phoenix.
Sgt. 1st Class Todd Crutchfield has 20 years of Army service. He is assigned as the battalion retention noncommissioned officer, 2nd Battalion, 13th Aviation Regiment. He and his wife Teresa have two daughters, Morgan and Jordan. They plan to relocate to the East Coast.
Sgt. 1st Class Randey Griffin has 20 years of Army service. He is assigned as the training NCO for HHC, 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 11th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade. He and his wife Jessica plan to reside in Sierra Vista.
Sgt. 1st Class Jason Holloway has 22 years of Army Service. He is assigned as an instructor for the Distributed Common Ground System " Army, New Systems Training and Integration Division, HHC, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence. He and his wife Jennifer have three children, Hunter, Tyler, and Mackenzie. They plan to reside in Sierra Vista.
Sgt. 1st Class Michael Newsom has 20 years of Army service. He is assigned as the operations and plans NCO for Bravo Company, 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 11th Theater Tactical Signal Battalion. He and his wife Tammy have four children, Ariel, Tiffany, Marissa, and Madyson. They plan to reside in Summerville, S.C.
Staff Sgt. Davin Rickard has 24 years of Army service. He is assigned as a wire systems installer for the 69th Tactical Installation Network, 40th ESB, 11th TTSB. Rickard plans to reside in McNeal.
