The U.S. Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground celebrated its first organization day June 30.

ACC-APG is a consolidation of the former U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command and U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command Contracting Centers. Almost 300 employees and family members gathered on the Civilian Activity Picnic Area Field on Aberdeen Proving Ground-South, (Edgewood Area) for a day of camaraderie, sports, eating and fun.

The event kicked off at 11:30 a.m. with a picnic lunch consisting of burgers, beef brisket, barbecued ribs and grilled chicken with an assortment of vegetables, drinks and desserts.

Participants were able to enjoy the scenic backdrop of the Chesapeake Bay while listening to the tunes of a disc jockey and activities including basketball, frisbee toss, horseshoes, jump rope, card game.

There were also events for the children to include a playground and face painting by "Toni The Clown." Underneath Toni’s clown make-up and costume was Antoinette Aquiningoc, contract resource.

"We had a lot of fun and the kids seem to really enjoy the face painting," Aquiningoc said.
