FORT BRAGG, N.C. (July 18, 2011) " U.S. Army Forces Command marked another milestone today as 120 people were the first of its civilian employees to in-process in the new FORSCOM headquarters building here.
The arriving staff members represented the latest wave of people to relocate here from FORSCOM’s previous home at Fort McPherson, Ga. The move is being made in order to comply with the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure legislation.
The in-processing was conducted in the 250-seat main conference in the basement of the 631,000 sq. ft., $304M facility FORSCOM shares with the U.S. Army Reserve Command. The complex was turned over to FORSCOM and USARC on July 5.
Incoming Soldiers and Army civilians who had arrived in previous months and weeks, as part of the steady, uninterrupted transition of operations, had had to in-process at other, temporary facilities on post.
Most of the FORSCOM employees who came earlier are currently working in other buildings and will move into their new home between now and October. However, those who arrived today will settle directly into their assigned work areas in the new headquarters.
During the entire relocation process, the command’s three priorities have been: 1) Take care of our people during the relocation; 2) recruit and retain a high-performing, diverse workforce; and 3) maintain mission continuity throughout the relocation period.
On Aug. 1, FORSCOM and USARC will host a public colors uncasing and building dedication ceremony.
