The U.S. Army Military District of Washington’s (MDW) final Twilight Tattoo performance of the 2011 season was hosted by U.S. Army Garrison (USAG), Fort Detrick, Commander Col. Judith D. Robinson, and Command Sgt. Maj. Federico E. Boyce at Baker Park in Frederick Maryland June 25.
The USAG, Fort Detrick, supports five cabinet-level agencies: The Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Agriculture, Department of Homeland Security and Department of Health and Human Services.
The U.S. Army Military District of Washington conducts Twilight Tattoo to tell the Army’s story to the public. It is a time-honored tradition that blends the precision and discipline of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) with the orchestral sounds of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own.”
“America’s Army -The Strength of the Nation” was the theme for this year’s show. Performances were from May through June at locations ranging from Ft. McNair, DC to Frederick Maryland. Twilight Tattoo communicates the Army’s proud heritage and traditions to the American public, from the Army’s early origins and contributions to the history and development of the United States to safeguarding freedom and winning the Nation’s wars.
