COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command is hosting the command’s 2011 Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier Year competition in Colorado Springs, Colo., June 20-24.
The competition consists of a variety of events such as an Army Physical Fitness Test, land navigation during the daytime and at night, marksmanship, board presentation and a training exercise.
The NCO competitors are: Staff Sgt. Chauncey Carter, Detachment C, 1st Space Company, Pacific Region; Staff Sgt. Christopher Miller, Company B, 53rd Signal Battalion, Eastern Region; Sgt. Seamus Lynch, Joint Tactical Ground Station, Det. B, 1st Space Co., European Region; and Staff Sgt. Andrew Brown, 1st Space Co., 1st Space Bn., Western Region.
The Soldier competitors are: Spec. Brandon Kitchen, Co. B, 53rd Signal Bn., Eastern Region; Spec. Ryon Powers, JTAGS, Det. D, 1st Space Co., Pacific Region; Spec. Lyarnell Harris, Co. A, 49th Missile Defense Bn., Western Region; and Spec. Jeffrey B. Powell, JTAGS, Det. A, 1st Space Co., European Region.
The winners will be announced Friday during a ceremony, and will compete in the Department of the Army’s Best Warrior competition at Fort Lee, Va., in October.
