904th welcomes new commander, prepares for move

FORT IRWIN, Calif. " Members of the 904th Contingency Contracting Battalion welcomed their new commander today during a change of command ceremony at Fort Irwin, Calif.

Lt. Col. Jeffery Phillips assumed command of the 904th CCBN from Lt. Col. Ronald Quinter during the ceremony.

As part of the ceremony, unit colors were cased for the 904th CCBN’s move to Fort Knox, Ky. An uncasing of colors at Fort Knox is scheduled for June 7.

Quinter, who also commanded the Mission and Installation Contracting Command’s Mission Contracting Office-Fort Irwin, leaves for an assignment with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Procurement at the Pentagon. A director for MICC ICO-Fort Irwin will be named in the coming weeks.

Phillips comes to the 904th CCBN from Fort Riley, Kansas, where he served as the team leader for the 638th Senior Contingency Contracting Team, 901st Contingency Contracting Battalion. Since joining the Army Acquisition Corps in 2001, his assignments have also included positions as research and engineering officer for the Operational Test Command at Fort Hood, Texas; team leader for the 614th Contingency Contracting Team at Fort Benning, Ga., and chief of contracting at the Regional Contracting Center at Taji, Iraq.

The MICC is responsible for planning, integrating, awarding and administering contracts in support of Army commands, direct reporting units, U.S. Army North and other organizations to provide the best value for the mission, Soldiers and their families.
