TORRANCE, Calif. - Gen. Robert W. Cone, commanding general of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command served as the Grand Marshal at the Nation's longest-running Armed Forces Day celebration over the weekend.

This was Gen. Cone's fourth appearance at the city's 52nd annual tribute to the Armed Forces, which drew an audience of tens of thousands of community members, and civic and military leaders.

The day started off with an official reveille ceremony and included military displays, a military family barbeque, and the Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade where he enlisted 150 new Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen. The day concluded with Gen. Cone serving as the guest speaker for the evening banquet.

He highlighted his recent tours in Iraq and Afghanistan by telling the audience five short Soldier's stories demonstrating the progress we are making in these conflicts, the support of the American people, and the incredible accomplishments and resiliency of our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines.
